Oven-Baked Churros

I n g r e d i e n t s :
-
1 cup water
-
â…“ cup butter
-
2 tbsp brown sugar
-
1 cup all-purpose flour
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
2 eggs
-
Cinnamon (to coat)
-
Sugar (to coat)
-
Chocolate (to melt)
Steps:
-
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
-
Over medium heat, bring 1 cup of water, butter, and brown sugar to a boil in a medium pot.
-
Once boiling, turn off the heat and mix in the flour; about 2 minutes to make sure everything is well combined.
-
Get the pot off the heat source and let cool for 30 seconds.
-
Add the vanilla extract; mix
-
Add each egg individually, stirring in between to make sure everything is well combined.
-
Set up a piping bag with a tip (sandwich bag works as well), and pipe the churro mixture onto a greased pan. To make it easier, have a friend stand with a knife or scissors to sever the mixture from the piping bag.
-
Bake the churros in the oven for 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
-
While baking, melt ¾ stick of butter in a microwave-safe bowl. In a pie pan, combine sugar and cinnamon to make the coating (proportions are up to you).
-
Once out of the oven for at least 5 minutes, take each churro, dunk it in the melted butter, and then coat with the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Place on a cooling rack with a pan underneath to catch any extra sugar.
-
Melt chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and place on a tray with the churros.
-
Enjoy!
